What was all that about making ships and big cakes? (Translated with Q/A from rep)

Question was brought up on the Japanese side thread regarding whatever happened to the joint production – making big cake, ships that was announce by the old dev team. I translated some of the comments from there to show what some of the JP people are talking about this one. Wanted to see what you guys feel about it as well.

皆さん、こんばんは。

昨年9月のイベントでご紹介した船やケーキを作るというシーンと共にご紹介した共同製作について、プロデューサーの吉田に確認をしてきました。

共同製作自体が白紙になったとかいうことでは勿論ありませんが、現在も検討段階にあります。主に、共同製作を行うことの意味／動機付けと、共同製作で製作されたものの用途を明確にするということを行っており、それら一連をセットで実装していく方針ということでした。

というわけで、まだまだ検討段階ではありますが、具体的な内容が見えてきた段階でまたご報告したいと思います。

I have brought up the question to Yoshida producer regarding the ships and cake we showed last year September.

It doesn’t mean that the joint production (collaboration) to make something has been dumped; it is still being looked into it. We are looking for a reason to why you have to make something as team/joint production; making it clear for what usage created stuff has after and implementing as a set.

So, currently it is still being looked into but if we get more information we will let you know as we see more information.

ということは、発売の段階で全く開発には手付かず、検討すらされていない状態だったにもかかわらず、 （あえて旧体制ではと入れておきますが）いかにもこれから実装されるような宣伝をして客を集めたわけですね。ようくわかりました。所詮売ったもの勝ちのオ ンラインゲームの甘い蜜に逆らえなかったと言うこと。ＦＦならば・・・と期待した自分が馬鹿でした。正直なコメントありがとうございます。

しかし、それを「やっぱりダメでした」「前任者の計画なので・・・」と逃げずに、意地でも、やり遂げてください。それがｆｆ１４をウソにしない唯一の方法だと思います。

これからは「ウソ、おおげさ、まぎらわしい」「過大広告」には企業として真摯に姿勢を改めてもらいたいと思います。

So this means when this game was released the dev team didn’t even touch this stuff, and didn’t even look into it (just adding the old team); just advertising it like its going to be released soon to get people. Was dumb for me thinking hoping since this is FF… Thank you for the honest comment.

But please don’t say “sorry we couldn’t” or “It was plan from the previous team…” please try to finish/make it. I think that is the only way to keep FF14 being a LIE

Old team promised the following by March (2011 ß added this in myself to make sure people understand…)
- hamlet
- cottage, ship
- delivery system
- LS system
- More leve’s
- Search Function
- title system
- Company feature

All for the customer, what was that about? All for the PS3 customer? All the PC FF core fans don’t matter!?

I completely forgot about it myself till I saw the thread + remembered the video LOL. Personally I don't care if this stuff got delayed but just posted since rep responded to it yesterday (this morning??)

Only part that got me to think oh yeah... that is true... is probably the last comment i translated about the old team promising to finish by March, forgot when Tanaka's team said that, probably around December right before team got changed no? I didn't expect all those changes since I know how hard it is to program these stuff but Kind of expected at least better linkshell system, delivery system, and the search function by now. Didn't think that was going to take 6 month + and still going.

Just posting if anyone was interested, had this stuff in mind.
